Bomb threat forces evacuation of Ukrainian Embassy in Lisbon

Bomb disposal team deployed to Ukrainian embassy

The Ukrainian Embassy in Portugal, in Lisbon, has been evacuated this afternoon due to a bomb threat.

According to national press, the threat has triggered an extensive police operation, with a bomb disposal team already deployed to the building.

The alarm was raised after embassy officials received an alarming email this morning, claiming that several explosives are hidden within the building.

Reports national tabloid Correio da Manhã, the email claimed that numerous explosives had been planted in different locations inside the embassy, and that all walls were rigged with bombs.

The threat further suggested the possibility of the explosives being remotely detonated.

Traffic has been cut off on the road closest to the embassy, CM adds.
