Some exhibitors said it was the “best BLiP ever”
Nearly 100 exhibitors came together last weekend (October 12-13) for the 2024 edition of BLiP (Better Living in Portugal), the annual expo organised by Portugal’s largest association for foreign residents and property owners – afpop – to promote the wide range of businesses, institutions and services that can be found in Portugal.
The event, held at the Portimão Arena, was praised by both visitors and exhibitors, many of whom have already expressed their desire to be back at the expo next year.

“Feedback from visitors was universally positive, some even saying it was the best BLiP ever,” Michael Reeve, afpop’s CEO, told the Resident after the event.
“It certainly was a very good expo and was well visited across the whole weekend, with many really positive comments from visitors about the variety of exhibitors and how welcoming and interesting the event was. Many visitors that I spoke to also commented that they thought that BLiP was bigger and livelier this year,” Reeve said.
Exhibitors also commended the 2024 edition of BLiP, which featured a varied selection of new and returning exhibitors, as well as local charities which showcased the valuable work they carry out for the community.
“The mix of new exhibitors really made a great difference again and it was also very rewarding to see so many of the charity organisations welcoming visitors who were interested in what they do,” Reeve said.
As he explained, one of the “litmus tests” for how successful BLiP has been is how many exhibitors want to reserve their space again for next year. “Once again, there are many who have said that they want to be at BLiP in 2025, so that and the positive feedback from visitors can only point to a successful and enjoyable BLiP Expo,” the CEO said, adding: “Even IKEA, who joined us at the last minute with a small stand, have indicated that they want to be at BLiP next year with a bigger space.”

“All in all, it was a most enjoyable BLiP Expo,” Michael Reeve said. “The weather held up for the most part and even a total power failure in Portimão for an hour on Saturday couldn’t dampen the spirits.”
