Electric car ‘loses control’ hitting children on way into school

Child and mother transported to hospital

Two primary school age children and one adult were hit early this morning when an electric car “lost control” as it emerged from a residential garage in Braga.

The incident happened close to the children’s school (Escola do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico de São José de São Lázaro) in the centre of Braga.

One of the children was only very lightly injured, but the other, and that child’s mother, were transported to hospital.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle – a BMW, model 13 – lost control as she exited the garage of her home. (Accident statistics on electric vehicles often refer to their acceleration capacity, and  how this can be the cause of accidents.)

As it was, no-one was seriously hurt – albeit the BMW received considerable damage, and traffic flow was interrupted.
