Discover the ‘Stories of the Algarve’ through art

Curated by Anke Punt Bach, the exhibition features works by eight of her students

The municipal library of Lagoa will unveil a new art exhibition, entitled ‘Histórias do Algarve – Stories of the Algarve,’ this Monday (October 28) at 5pm.

Curated by renowned local artist Anke Punt Bach, the exhibition showcases a vibrant array of artwork inspired by the natural beauty and rich heritage of the Algarve region, featuring the work of eight of her students: Tracy Ankers, Marga Rootlieb, David Markham, Matty Gieling, Declan Egan, Luís Bruno, Mientje de Goeij – de Rooij and Jannie vd Vreugde.

Each artist will be sharing their unique interpretations of the Algarve’s stories and light through expressive brushstrokes and vivid colours.

The inauguration event is free and open to everyone. The exhibition will be on display at the library until November 29 and can be visited on weekdays from 10am to 6pm.

Anke Punt Bach is a dedicated artist and art teacher with a background rich in international experience. She began her formal training at the Art Academy in London, where she developed her skills and continues to practice her art daily. Throughout her career, Anke has been a member of esteemed art organisations, including the United Society of Artists, the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, and the Federation of British Artists. Her work has been featured in exhibitions worldwide, from Syria and Russia to Australia, London, The Hague, and Portugal.

Apart from continuing to exhibit her works, Anke is also dedicated to sharing her experience and knowledge with the Algarve’s up-and-coming artists.
