The new environmental fair takes place on November 2 and 3 in the Jardim de Vale Faro.
The city of Albufeira is dedicating the first weekend of November to a brand-new event: the FAESA—Albufeira Ecological and Sustainable Environmental Fair. This eco-friendly fair will take place on November 2 and 3, between 09h00 and 18h00, in Jardim de Vale Faro.
Aiming to raise citizens’ awareness of conscious consumption, whether of food, their own time, or the items they purchase, FAESA “is a celebration of greater environmental awareness, sustainability for the planet, and well-being and health”, says the organisation. From sensory experiences to lectures and storytelling for children, the event also includes shows, gastronomic displays, and a new edition of the Eco-Challenge.
Exhibitions and reflections on healthy eating will be a big part of this event. Lectures on Saturday, November 2, include «Natural, Ecological and Toxic-Free Cosmetics» by Nádia Monteiro (14h00), «Alternative Therapies for Animals» by QivetAlgarve (14h30), and «Well-being and Happiness», by Bárbara Taborda (15h15), a well-known TV presenter, well-being and happiness consultant, who «developed a Slow Aging method, which helps people integrate healthy routines and habits into their lives to be more productive, healthy and happy».
Nutritionist Martina Grieff will give a lecture, also on Saturday, at 17h15, on «Dietary Re-education in the Prevention of Metabolic Diseases».
On Sunday, November 3, the lectures will include «Food Ethics» by Isabel Silva (15h00), «Quinta do Freixo: an example of Sustainability» by Luís Cabral e Silva (15h45) and «Psychoaromatherapy and Metaphysics of Health», by Katy Rapyas (16h45).
A wide range of therapists will set up their stalls in the garden to offer visitors various treatments ranging from massages to «chakra» alignment, micro reading, energy cleansing, and many other alternative sources that generate physical and emotional well-being.
Pilates, yoga, and many dancing styles will also have their place at the fair.
Alongside all this, there will be no shortage of live tastings and culinary shows. On Saturday, there will be «Fermented Vegetables» by Andreia Colibri (10h30) and «Healthy Flavours: Discover the Power of Vegetarian Cuisine» with nutritionists Martina Grieff and Safira Carvalho (16h15).
On Sunday, at 10h30, Safira Carvalho will also present «Nutritious Breakfast and Toxic Utensils to Avoid in the Kitchen».
Multiple activities are available for children, and Vanda Assunção will also tell them stories at the Kids Stand: on Saturday, at 17h00, «The Zebra Who Didn’t Like Cabbage» and, on Sunday, «The Green Soup» (10:15) and «The Giant Turnip» (16h00).
The concert line-up includes Johnny White’s «Sound Healing» on November 2 at 17h45. On Sunday, Mateus Verde will perform at 14h00, and Carlos Braga will perform at 17h30 to close the fair.
As part of this event, another edition of the Eco-Challenge will also take place, starting at 09h30 on Sunday and ending at 17h20 with the prize-giving ceremony. This cleaning initiative also includes prize draws and the transformation of waste into useful objects.
The fair is organised by the Parish Council of Albufeira and Olhos de Água with the support of the Albufeira City Council.
Entry is free.
