A man described as an “Indian immigrant in his 40s” has confessed to killing his wife in the municipality of Sintra.
According to Correio da ManhĂŁ tabloid, the man called emergency services this morning at around 9.30am, allegedly confessing to the murder of his wife by strangulation.
When police arrived at the scene in AlgueirĂŁo-Mem Martins, the man openly admitted to the crime and was arrested.
The victim, reportedly of a similar age, was found lying on a mattress in the couple’s house. The crime took place behind a two-story house that also operates as a daycare center, which authorities confirm is unrelated to the incident.
The couple has a young child who attends school in Mem Martins and is reportedly unaware of the tragic events. Local authorities are awaiting the arrival of the PolĂcia JudiciĂĄria to conduct further investigation.
