Portugal’s minister for the environment and energy said on Thursday that the fight against energy poverty would be one of the government’s priorities next year and acknowledged that the support programme for bottled gas should be strengthened and better publicised.
Maria da Graça Carvalho was the fifth minister to speak on the second day of the general debate on the government’s proposed State Budget for 2025 and took stock of her ministry’s priorities, pointing out some future priorities.
“In 2025, combating energy poverty will be one of our priorities. It is estimated that in Portugal more than 20% of people are in a situation of energy poverty, we need to strengthen measures in this area and we will do so,” he assured.
