Lagoa building new accessible path

Lagoa is building a new accessible path connecting Poço Partido to Areia dos Moinhos, in a bid to make the area safer and easier to navigate on foot or by bike.

The path, which started construction in October and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, will stretch along Rua Jacinto Correia and feature a red-paved lane, built of porous concrete surface for better drainage.

At 1.60 meters wide, this route will make it easier for tourists and locals to enjoy the area’s natural beauty along the coast, the municipal council says in a statement to the press.

The project, costing around €445,000, is part of Lagoa’s broader plan to improve mobility and provide new options for walking, cycling, and accessible routes for wheelchairs and strollers.

In addition to this route, Lagoa is already planning new paths, including a link from Rocha Brava to Algarve Clube Atlântico, and other paths connecting Lagoa to Carvoeiro and Estômbar to Mexilhoeira da Carregação.
