A movement created during the pandemic in Portugal wants the state to compensate people who have had adverse reactions to Covid-19 vaccines, asking MPs for this compensation to be included in the draft state budget for 2025. The demand comes from the Movement for Children and Young People in the Pandemic, created in 2021, which announced that it has sent a letter to all MPs arguing that the “establishment of a fair system of compensation for damage caused by Covid-19 vaccines is fundamental and urgent” for citizens’ confidence in the health system and for maintaining public health in Portugal. Compensation schemes already exist in other countries, including UK, Australia, Ireland and the United States.
