Youth unemployment ‘still among highest in Europe’

Portugal’s secretary of state for labour Adriano Moreira said today that the country’s youth unemployment rate “is a serious problem” that “surprises even European leaders”. The government is “working” with the EU and the OECD on solutions, he said, during a hearing in parliament as part of the discussions in speciality of the 2025 State Budget – stressing that youth unemployment has been a problem in this country since 2019.
