Extensive monitoring operation tracks Russian spy ship through Portuguese territorial waters

A Russian ship “specialised in the detection and sabotage of critical submarine infrastructures” (namely oil pipelines and underwater telecommunications cables) was tracked by the Portuguese Navy in an extensive operation for more than two weeks as it ‘passed through Portuguese territorial waters’, only finally exiting on Sunday. The Yantar is capable of operating exploratory vehicles at great depths, explain reports, and has “recently been in the waters of (other) allied countries”.
