World famous Portuguese coach José Mourinho is said to be taking advantage of a week’s break over Christmas to travel to Lisbon for an operation to his gall bladder. The 61-year-old is currently coaching Turkish club Fenerbahce – which hasn’t won its last four matches and is currently five points from league leaders Galatasaray. Much has been made of this ‘surgery’, to the extent that Mourinho has stressed today that it is nothing like as dramatic as reports are making out: “For all those who have expressed concern, I can confirm that reports of my surgery have been greatly exaggerated”, he told his fans in a Christmas message. “It is just a quick and minor procedure (…) I will resume training on the first day after the break, as usual. I’ve never missed a training session in 25 years and I don’t intend to start now”.
