Loulé town council has announced it will be holding a pet-friendly ‘fireworks’ display in Quarteira this New Year’s Eve: “a special type of pyrotechnics that does not emit the habitual noise associated with fireworks”. This is a first for Loulé, and for the Algarve. The council says the decision has been taken “thinking about animals and people sensitive to noise”. Its announcement has been widely appreciated over social media, with dozens of congratulatory comments.
