Civic groups aim for thousands at Lisbon’s anti-racism demo on Saturday

Several civic organisations have called for a demonstration against racism and xenophobia on Saturday following the police search operation that put dozens of immigrants against the wall in Martim Moniz, just before Christmas. The ‘Don’t put us against the wall’ demonstration, supported by more than 1,600 signatures from people and a hundred civic organisations, aims to be “one of the biggest demonstrations” against racism, which the organisation hopes will be attended by “thousands of people”, Anabela Rodrigues, spokesperson for the Solidariedade Imigrante association, tells Lusa.
