Body was undressed; causes of death unclear

The body of a young woman, aged between 20 and 30, was discovered this morning by the sea on Culatra Island, near Faro.

According to the national maritime authority, the causes of death are not yet clear, which is why the case is now in the hands of PJ judicial police.

The alert was given shortly before 8am this morning, by a local. Authorities responded almost immediately, isolating the area and “taking all precautionary and police measures necessary.

Death was declared at the scene, with the body then being transferred to the Office of Legal and Forensic Medicine of the Sotavento Algarve, where an autopsy will take place.

Reports coming through during the day point to the body having been ‘undressed’, or at least ‘partially dressed’.
