Fuel hike “insufficient to warrant government intervention”

Portugal’s prime minister said today that this week’s rise in fuel prices is not enough to “cause a stir from the point of view of the government’s action” but that it will do so when necessary. “Today’s rises are significant; fuel is much more expensive today than yesterday, but there have also been many weeks in which it has fallen. Overall, over the last few months, there hasn’t been an oscillation that would cause the government to move. When there is, we’ll be here,” said Luis Montenegro, speaking in Maia in the district of Porto
