A number of entities of the state were put on high alert yesterday when envelopes (sent by Correio Verde/ ‘green delivery’ from Lisbon) started arriving, containing a ‘suspicious white powder’ and a text full of personal complaints. The ‘scare’ has turned out to have been harmless: certainly, the white powder was deemed “innocuous”, following screening at the public health institute Dr Ricardo Jorge. PJ police are now trying to discover from where the envelopes were sent , and by whom. Recipients include the Presidency of the Republic, the presidency of the Council of Ministers, the ministries of Interior Administration, Infrastructures and Housing, sundry services of the state and the Authority for Civil Protection and Emergency.
