Best Summer Destination award goes to Algarve
The Algarve has been awarded the title of ‘Best Summer Destination’ at the Irish Travel Industry Awards 2025 which took place on Thursday, January 23, in Dublin, Ireland.
“This award reflects the region’s excellence and appeal as a top choice for Irish tourists, further cementing its position aa premier international travel destination,” the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) says in a statement.
Representatives from ATA and several industry partners attended the event to accept the award. “We are extremely proud of this recognition, which is a testament to our ongoing efforts and collaboration with our commercial partners in Ireland, a strategic market for the Algarve,” said Algarve tourism chief André Gomes.
The Irish Travel Industry Awards are among the most significant events in Ireland’s tourism sector, bringing together tour operators, travel agents, and specialised journalists. The ceremony not only celebrated this achievement but also served as an opportunity for ATA to strengthen ties with the Irish market, the association says. Notably, overnight stays by Irish tourists at Algarve hotels and accommodation units increased by 7% in 2024.
“This award underscores the Algarve’s commitment to providing unique and unforgettable experiences for visitors while solidifying its status as a leading global travel destination,” ATA adds.
