Gunfight outside Lagos school leaves one injured

At least one person has been taken to the hospital after a gunfight between PSP police and a group of alleged criminals who stormed the Escola do Bairro Operário primary school in Lagos this Friday afternoon (February 7) in an attempt to escape.

According to reports in national press, the shots were fired outside the school building. Authorities have yet to confirm if the injured person was a police agent or one of the alleged criminals.

Jornal de Notícias reports that students were in class during the ordeal and did not realise what was going on.

SIC television news has since said that the group is known for thefts in the area. The injured person is understood to be one of the suspects.

PSP police have said they will be making a statement shortly.
