Two men arrested for Monte Gordo burglaries

Burglars were caught red-handed by police

GNR police have arrested two men who were caught red-handed committing burglaries in the coastal Algarve town of Monte Gordo.

The case unfolded on February 6 when officers spotted a car packed with household appliances. Not only did officers seize the loot and impound the vehicle, but an intense follow-up investigation led them straight to one of the looted homes where the two men were caught in the act.

Authorities confirmed that the duo was responsible for breaking into at least three homes, stealing a substantial haul of items which were seized by police, including an induction cooktop, television, electric cutting machine, coffee machine, refrigerator, water heater, two mattresses, two DVD players, two fishing rods, and three boxes of fishing gear.

The two men, aged 38 and 39, have been named ‘arguidos’ (defendants) and have been ordered by Faro’s criminal court to report twice a week to their local police station.
