Coimbra hopes to be international tech innovation hub

Coimbra City Council wants to position the municipality as a centre for technological innovation, nationally and internationally, by bringing together its main assets in terms of innovation. The aim is to make Coimbra a city “where innovation is not just an abstract concept’, but “a vector for sustained development, capable of boosting economic, social and environmental growth’, deputy mayor, Francisco Veiga, said today at the presentation of the final version of the Municipal Innovation Strategy – a guiding document drawn up by the Coimbra Intelligence Centre of the municipality’s Information Technology and Digital Innovation Department, with the support of the Portuguese Innovation Society (SPI).
