Mini-government reshuffle follows departure of secretary of state Hernani Dias

Six new secretaries of state will be sworn in this evening at Belém Palace. They are Silvério Regalado, Maria Luísa Oliveira, Filipa Lima, Jean Barroca, Carla Rodrigues and Alberto Santos,  with portfolios for Local Administration and Territorial Planning, Educational Administration and Innovation, Social Security, Energy, Equality and Culture respectively. This is being seen as prime minister Luís Montenegro’s first government reshuffle – prompted by the resignation of former secretary of state for local administration Hernani Dias, albeit on a mini-scale, not involving ministers. Needless to say, it hasn’t gone as smoothly as the government might have hoped. Journalists have found that Silvério Regalado (when he was mayor of Vagos) celebrated more than €200,000 in direct contracts with law offices that, at the time, had Mr Montenegro as a partner…
