A new beginning: Gigi’s search for a forever home
Gigi, a beautiful smokey grey and white cat, was once the cherished companion of an elderly lady. Sadly, when her owner became bedridden and unable to care for her, no family members could take her in. Since April 2024, Gigi has been under the care of Cadela Carlota in Lagos, adjusting to life at the shelter.
A cat who craves companionship and freedom
Unlike most cats who eventually settle into shelter life, Gigi has struggled. She is not fond of other cats, making it difficult for her to thrive in a communal setting. For much of her time at the shelter, she has been confined to a cage, as being around other cats causes her stress.
However, a turning point came when two dedicated volunteers decided to foster her. In their care, Gigi blossomed. They discovered she is affectionate, enjoys human company, loves to play, and most importantly, relishes the freedom of outdoor space.
A perfect companion for the right home
Gigi would be an ideal pet for someone who can offer her a home where she can be the sole feline ruler. A spacious garden or safe outdoor area would allow her the freedom she loves. She is sweet-natured and thrives on companionship, making her a wonderful match for someone seeking a devoted pet.
A second chance at happiness
Although her foster carers have provided her with a temporary home, their travel commitments mean they cannot foster her indefinitely. Now, we are searching for someone who can give Gigi the permanent, loving home she deserves.
At any one time, Cadela Carlota cares for around 60 cats, each with their own story and personality. Visitors are always welcome to meet the cats, volunteer, or even consider fostering or adopting.
