Portimão hosts first Fusion Fest

Fusion Fest will feature BMX and skate competitions, live music, art exhibitions and much more

Fusion Fest, a new event which combines culture, art, music and sports, will take place at Portimão Arena on March 1 and 2.

The event will act as the official opening of ‘Março Jovem’, an initiative held every March which organises several events for young people in Portimão.

Organised by local groups, including Associação Cultural Marginália, Clube Bicross de Portimão, and Skate Clube Portimão, the event will feature BMX Freestyle and Skate competitions, live art demonstrations, exhibitor areas, and concerts by national and international artists.

Taking place on Saturday, March 1, the Skate competition will begin at 10.30am will feature two categories: Sub-16 and Open. The BMX Freestyle Park competition will follow on Sunday, March 2, also starting at 10.30am.

Music will play a major role in the festivities, with concerts on March 1 by local artists José Francisco, known for his participation in ‘The Voice Portugal 2024’, at 9.30pm, followed by pop singer-songwriter Syro. Local rock band Divine will take the stage on March 2 at 5.30pm, opening for The Buzz Lovers, a renowned Spanish tribute band to Nirvana.

Starting on both days at 10.30am, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at the event, including dance performances, combat sports demonstrations, and fitness showcases led by local associations and gyms. There will also be an exhibition area featuring local artists, food and beverage stalls and a kids’ zone.
