Meet Tahini: a story of resilience
Tahini, a nine-year-old dog, was recently found in the middle of nowhere in Monchique. He was extremely thin, covered in fleas, and had an injured paw that he couldn’t put on the ground. Shy but gentle, he has just begun his recovery journey with us. Despite these challenges, Tahini remains curious and calm, and we are committed to providing him with the care he needs.
Some animals, like Tahini, may never find a traditional home due to age, chronic health issues, or behavioral concerns. However, through sponsorship, they can still receive the support and love they deserve.
How sponsorship makes a difference
Sponsoring a dog or cat is a wonderful way to contribute to their well-being. Sponsors can be individuals, groups of friends, companies, or institutions. By choosing an animal to sponsor, you help cover their daily care, medical expenses, and enrichment activities, ensuring they live a comfortable and happy life in the shelter.
Sponsorship is flexible and accessible to everyone. We offer three levels of support:
- GOLD: €20 per month
- SILVER: €10 per month
- BRONZE: €5 per month
As a sponsor, you will receive a certificate of sponsorship and quarterly video updates about your chosen animal. If you’re in Lagos, you can even visit and spend time with them.
Brutus: a sponsored success story
Brutus, a medium-sized male dog, was abandoned at the Lagos kennel in 2017 by his owner. When he was transferred to our shelter, he initially escaped, living outside the pens but always staying close to the place where he was fed. Eventually, he was brought back into the shelter, where he adapted and now enjoys the company of his companion Carlota.
Brutus remains very cautious around people, only trusting a few familiar volunteers. He enjoys walks but only with his companions by his side. For dogs like Brutus, sponsorship provides ongoing care and a safe, loving environment where they can live happily.
