Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas is among the speakers who will discuss ‘The Art of Being Human’ on March 1.
On March 1 2025, Lisbon will host the first edition of TEDxMarvila, the first TEDx event in the capital to be conducted in English. The event will take place at the historic Convento do Beato, bringing national and international speakers together to discuss the theme ‘The Art of Being Human’. It will explore different perspectives on the human experience and encourage reflection, creativity, and innovation.
One of the confirmed speakers is Carlos Moedas, the Mayor of Lisbon, who will open the event as the first speaker, reflecting on the significance of the theme in a world of constant change.
“The theme ‘Being Human’ is both timeless and profoundly relevant. Reflecting on our shared humanity is essential in an era of rapid change. TEDxMarvila provides an important platform for thought leaders, visionaries, and engaged citizens to unite and explore what defines us as individuals and a society,” said Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon.
New speakers have recently been announced. These include Anna Kozlova, a Belarusian molecular geneticist and science communicator, who is currently a consultant at Zaz Ventures in Brussels; António Amaral, a young student and advocate for human interaction and the promotion of social inclusion; and Teresa Vitória, an innovative interior designer and entrepreneur renowned for her work in creating environments that foster well-being. She will present the craftsmanship of Portuguese tapestries from the Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre.
The event will also feature a diverse lineup of inspiring voices, including Gisela João, Joana
Nobre, Miguel Stanley, and Oluwole Omofemi, who will provide a unique experience of sharing and reflection.
In addition to the talks, the event will include:
- The Heart of Being Human art exhibition, an immersive visual exploration of the event’s
- Theme;
- Singing and dance performances, with choreography by Natasha Chystsiakova;
- Poetry recitals by Anna Mulock Houwer;
- The premiere of Being Human, a film created for TEDxMarvila by Vyra Sachse;
- A dedicated networking space, encouraging the exchange of ideas among participants;
- A unique opportunity to win invaluable prizes.
