Nurses from health centres in the Lisbon and West areas will be on strike on March 20, for the payment of back pay outstanding – some of it apparently owed since 2018.
The strike is also for the “harmonisation of salary conditions”.
According to the strike notice issued today by union SEP, the strike will involve nurses working in primary health care in the Local Health Units (ULS) of Santa Maria, São José, Lisboa Ocidental, Loures-Odivelas, Estuário do Tejo, Amadora/Sintra and in the West South Health Centre Grouping of the ULS do Oeste.
The strike will take place between 08:00 and midnight on March 20 and, according to the notice, the provision of minimum essential services to meet ‘unavoidable social needs’ is guaranteed.
With this strike, primary health care nurses also want to demand the conclusion of the recruitment drives for positions of Nurse Manager and Specialist Nurse,‘fair and legal’ awarding of points and further recruitment and investment in primary health care “to strengthen the SNS national health service”.
