LIGA PORTUGAL BETCLIC: Farense 0-1 Braga
LIGA PORTUGAL 2 MEU SUPER: Portimonense 1-2 Feirense
Last Saturday evening, Farense could have been judged unlucky – as has been the case so often this season – , with Braga coming away with a less than deserved victory.
This time, the Algarveans dominated the opening 45 minutes but were thwarted on several occasions by keeper Lukas Hornicek on top of his game, Rony Lopes was guilty of a bad miss and VAR failed to award a fairly obvious-looking hand ball penalty before Gabri Martinez popped up for the 70th-minute winner.
The Algarveans now have eight matches left to at least make good the six-point gap to a play-off place, a task not made easier by their next away fixture at Benfica following the international break.
Last Friday evening, Portimonense goalkeeper Vinicius, so often the hero this season, turned villain of the piece as two glaring mistakes handed visiting Feirense victory.
Things began well enough with Tamble latching on to poor 12th-minute Nile John back pass to give manager Ricardo Pessoa’s men the lead. However, it only took John quarter of an hour to redeem himself as his speculative shot from distance struck an unaware Vinicius on the shoulder and ended up in the back of the net.
Immediately after the break, the keeper was caught out again when his ill-advised positioning allowed Leandro Antunes to again beat him from outside the area for the winner.
Fortunately for Portimonense, next away at joint second Vizela on March 29, they are in no present relegation danger as the clubs below them continue to lose.
