Event goes ahead in EMA (multipurpose space) between April 11-13
April sees a return of the hugely popular “Grande Mostra de Vinhos de Portugal” (Great Exhibition of Portuguese Wines), that takes place in Albufeira’s EMA (multipurpose space).
Scheduled for April 11-13, this year’s event promises to be the ‘biggest yet’, with a total of 120 producers and a wide range of 800 wines on sale.
The 2024 edition saw around 9,000 visitors, confirming the growing interest in these kind of events.
This year’s show promises an extended gastronomy area and the “debut of confectionery, providing a more comprehensive experience for participants”.
The programme also includes the 10th Portuguese Wine Competition, which will evaluate around 150 wines, a record number for this competition.
The initiative, organised by the Albufeira Bacchus Confraternity, in partnership with Albufeira Town Council and with the support of the Algarve Tourism Board and APAL – Albufeira Promotion Agency, runs from 3pm to 8pm over the three days; admission is free, although people need to buy an official glass (€5 euros) to take part in wine tastings.
A few days before, the Algarve Wine Tourism Fair – an ‘exclusive event for professionals in the sector’ takes place at the Carlos do Carmo auditorium in Lagoa. This fixture, open to agents in the sector and other professionals, aims to consolidate the Algarve as a leading wine tourism destination, promoting its estates, wines and ‘unique experiences’.
Participation in this event, on Monday April 7, is subject to prior registration.
