Art collective presents exhibition at LAC

Colectivo RUA artists are known for their strong roots in graffiti culture and visual arts

The LAC – Creative Activities Laboratory in Lagos is set to host the opening of the “GRANITO” exhibition by Colectivo RUA on Friday, April 26 at 6pm.

Founded in Porto in 2006, Colectivo RUA consists of 11 artists who are currently in residence at LAC to prepare this collection of artworks.

Known for their strong roots in graffiti culture and visual arts, the collective explores the themes of individual and collective identity through the lens of the iconic granite – a defining element of Porto’s landscape.

Granite, seen in the streets, walls, and homes of Porto, serves as a metaphor for strength, resilience, and collective memory in the exhibition, the artists say. Featuring self-portraits and collaborative works, each artist brings their unique visual language, celebrating diversity, friendship, and the power of collaborative creation, much like the stone blocks that build a city.

On display until May 31, the exhibition is free to visit.
