Between August 9 and 17, fair visitors will have the opportunity to learn how to cook staple Arabic dishes such as Tajine and Keftas.
Starting this Friday, Silves’ Medieval Fair will offer its visitors the chance to learn about Arabic culture and its traditional cuisine.
Between August 9 and 17, chef Houda Barka will host free cooking exhibitions in Al-Mut’amid Square.
Every day at 19h00, the chef will prepare a different dish, transporting the public through the flavours, aromas and colours characteristic of Arabic cuisine.
Among others, participants will be able to learn how to make beef and chicken Tagine, Moroccan (Beghrir) and Berber (Mesmen) crepes, various salads, chicken Bastela and many other mouth-watering delicacies.
The Municipality of Silves invites the general public to participate in this festival and fall in love with “Xilb: city of love and heartbreak” in this edition of the Silves Medieval Fair.
The programme is as follows:
Aug 09 – Moroccan Bread and Tea
Aug 10 – Beghrir (Moroccan crepes)
Aug 11 – Mesmen (Berber crepes)
Aug 12 – Briouats (pastries made with brik dough or baste dough, stuffed with beef, chicken or vegetables)
Aug 13 – Kefta (ground meat seasoned with spices and aromatic herbs, which can be cooked on skewers or as meatballs)
Aug 14 – Various Moroccan salads
Aug 15 – Chicken Tagine
Aug 16 – Beef Tagine
Aug 17 – Chicken Bastela (salty and sweet pie with chicken, almonds and cinnamon)
