‘Abductor and rapist’ arrested by PJ police

A horrific scenario of a father abducting a teenage girl for his deaf-mute son has been revealed by PJ police who say they have now arrested the two men for rape and abduction on two separate occasions.

The first kidnapping took place allegedly in July. The father and son forced the girl into their vehicle, according to Público newspaper, and took her back to their home in Castro Verde, where the son raped her. The men then returned the girl back to Quarteira.

At the time, the girl’s mother reported the incident to local GNR police who referred the case to the PJ. The girl was subjected to medical tests which confirmed the story, said Público.

But then the men struck again. The second abduction took place on October 13, said the newspaper. The men forced their victim to accompany them back to Castro Verde, where she was made to live with the son and his parents until police arrived with arrest warrants (November 26).

Público reports the son’s disability led the father to search for a partner for him “because, due to his incapacity, he was not having much success with girls of the same ethnic group”.

All involved are gypsies and according to a family member who spoke to Correio da Manhã newspaper the girl “was not forced to accompany the father and son, who is her fiancé”. The relative added that the girl was pregnant with the young man’s child.

The two men will now be questioned further and a trial will take place at Loulé court.
