Stellantis, the company owning Peugeot and various other brands, has entered a joint venture with Chinese car manufacturer Leapmotor, to start selling electric vehicles in various different markets. At a press conference in China, Stellantis Portugal CEO Carlos Rodrigues said: “The strategy is to sell Leapmotor cars outside China, and, of course, protect what I believe to be most important, which is the offer to the consumer, taking mobility with zero emissions to the greatest number of people possible, so that we can contribute to resolving the problem of global warming”. Rodrigues confirmed that Leapmotor International will start selling in nine European countries (Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Spain, Belgium, Greece and Romania) “from September”. The objective is to introduce a new model every year for the first three years.
