Despite Pedro Machado’s appointment, the Association laments that the “main economic activity of the region and the country has not yet been distinguished with a Ministry”.
As the main association representing the Algarve hotel industry, AHETA welcomes the appointment of Pedro Machado as Secretary of State for Tourism. However, the association regrets that the main economic activity of the region and the country has still not been distinguished with a Ministry.
“Nevertheless, both the Minister of Economy and the Secretary of State for Tourism are true experts in the sector. They will have much to contribute to this activity’s continued development”, said the association in a press release.
“Pedro Machado served as president of the Centro Tourism Region for several terms, making significant contributions at national and international levels. His unique approach to tourism has positively impacted the national context”, it added.
“We are completely available to work with those responsible for the sector to find solutions to its main problems. Envisioning a promising future for companies and their staff in the pursuit of more sustainable tourism in all areas,” said Helder Martins, president of AHETA.
“The Algarve, being the country’s main tourism destination, faces a set of challenges that need to be addressed urgently to prevent potential issues from impacting our tourism industry,” he concluded.
