Ajuda Monchique platform relocates to new space near GNR

Ajuda Monchique, a group of citizens who joined forces to help the victims of Monchique’s devastating fires earlier this month, has relocated from the local Manuel de Nascimento school to a space on Rua Serpa Pinto in front of the GNR station.

Set up just a few weeks ago, the goal of the group is to “organise an effective distribution of help and to carefully report on all the damage that the fires have caused”.

All the donations of food, beverages, personal hygiene and primary needs that were received and accounted for by the Ajuda Monchique Platform, at the Escola Manuel de Nascimento, were handed over to Monchique council on August 24.

“From now on, we ask that the donations of food/beverages and personal hygiene goods be directed to the council. All other goods, such as tools, electrical appliances, furniture, irrigation material, will continue to be received, managed and delivered by the Ajuda Monchique Platform.

The group can be contacted for more information about how donations can be made and about how volunteers can help out.
