Albufeira hails success of new eco-fair

Eco-fair attracted thousands to Albufeira

Albufeira is celebrating the success of a new eco-fair called FAESA – Albufeira Ecological and Sustainable Environmental Fair.

The event took place on November 9 and 10 at Jardim de Vale Faro and attracted thousands of visitors who were eager to learn more about how to live more sustainably.

Handicraft stalls, concerts, sensorial exercises, physical activities such as yoga, Zumba, Pilates and aerobics, therapeutic sessions, culinary demonstrations, workshops, lectures and environmental education activities were among the many attractions that the fair boasted in its first edition.

We had two fantastic days, with blue skies and inviting weather, which together with the quality and diversity of the programme attracted thousands of people to the fair,” Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo said after the event.

Rolo also highlighted the event’s educational goals, with a focus on teaching children the concepts of eco-friendliness and sustainability.

The event had been in the pipeline for two years, added deputy mayor Cristiano Cabrita, with the idea being to organise an event that put the environment and sustainability in the spotlight while also offering the wealth of entertainment that visitors usually expect from these kinds of events.

“It was the first edition of an event that has all the conditions to needs to establish itself regionally and nationally. Just like Albufeira Sea Fest, Albufeira Sounds, Full Moon Galé and Albufeira Skate Challenge, I’d say FAESA is here to stay,” Cabrita added.
