Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana summon walkers

Caminheiros, Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana’s Hiking Festival is back for its 10th edition from March 15 to 17.

Celebrating the nature and culture of the cross-border territory of Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana, the Caminheiros Festival returns at the end of the winter season to offer hikers a unique experience.

This annual event, part of the Algarve Walking Season, which promotes sustainable tourism, highlights the region’s natural, cultural and gastronomic beauties.

“Caminheiros is an opportunity to explore, learn and experience the Algarve uniquely and interactively. Its diverse programme is a mosaic of experiences that awaken all the senses”, says the organisation. “From walks along the Guadiana River to kayaking, each activity promises an immersion in the region’s natural beauty”.

Whether in the expansive landscapes of the Serro de Panóias, on the trails along the Guadiana, or stargazing, each walk offers a physical journey and a connection with this region’s rich ecological and cultural heritage.

Participants can enjoy stunning sunsets, explore medieval castles under the cover of night and discover the secrets of beekeeping in the Algarve mountains.

Additionally, the programme includes a unique mix of gastronomic experiences, such as homemade bread workshops and local product tastings.

The complete programme can be found here.
