Alentejo mine invests €11 million to reduce dust pollution

Almina, the company running the concession for the Aljustrel (Beja) mines, announced today that it has invested €11 million in the construction of a new secondary surface crusher, which will reduce dust emissions. In a statement sent to the Lusa, the Alentejo company explained that the new  crushing plant has been installed in a more favourable location “to control and reduce dust emissions and consequently improve air quality (…) The company has replaced the installation that had existed for 16 years, building a new, more compact and more efficient unit”. The Aljustrel mines produce copper, zinc and lead. Almina has more than 1,200 employees, including its own workers and contractors, and had a turnover of €160 million in 2023.
