The ninth edition of the Alentejo’s biggest wine event will return to Évora on May 24 and 25, featuring over 250 wines from the region.
ÉvoraWine is held at Praça Giraldo and is expecting around 8,000 national and foreign visitors across the two days.
Organisers are promising several novelties for this year’s edition, namely the expansion of the event, which will now occupy the total area of the square, allowing winemakers to “share the knowledge and the flavours of the Alentejo with the calm that is so characteristic of the region.”
Foodies will also have a lot to look forward to, with eateries serving typical Alentejo dishes to complement the vast offer of local wines.
“This event is the only one in the Alentejo region which puts producers in direct contact with national and foreign consumers,” says organiser Reto Frank Jorg, adding that it provides an opportunity for both sides to share their thoughts about the region’s famous wines.
“Besides, it is an open door to tourism, which is essential for the growth and recognition of the region,” he adds.
The event is backed by the Regional Tourism Entity of the Alentejo and Ribatejo, whose president José Santos has acknowledged its importance.
“Wine is today one of the main attractions of the territory, which is why ÉvoraWine is so important to boost tourism in the region,” he said.
ÉvoraWine is also supported by the Alentejo Wine Commission (CVRA) and the Municipal Council of Évora.
