Brazil women’s football team, one of the best in the world, has been confirmed for the 22th Algarve Cup to be held between March 4 and 11.
One of the most prestigious friendly tournaments, the Algarve Cup will feature a few novelties this year, including the fact that there will be no restrictions to which teams play against whom following the group stage.
Group A features Sweden, Germany, Brazil and China, while Group B features Norway, the USA, Switzerland and Iceland. Denmark, France, Japan and Portugal make up Group C.
Match schedules and locations have yet to be announced.
Last year, it was Germany that took home the Algarve Cup, beating Japan 3-0 in the final.
USA, usually strong contenders to win the trophy, finished in an all-time worst seventh place, while Portugal came in last with three loses and only one win in the group stage.
