TAÇA DE PORTUGAL: FARENSE 1-3 BENFICA
LIGA PORTUGAL BETCLIC: MOREIRENSE 0-0 FARENSE
LIGA PORTUGAL 2 MEU SUPER: PORTIMONENSE 3-2 FELGUEIRAS
Last week, Farense put up a good show during the first half of their last 16 FA Cup home tie with Benfica, in front through a seventh-minute Tomané strike going into the break. However, the visitors from Lisbon returned to the pitch with renewed vigour and put the match beyond Farense’s reach with quick-fire goals from Schjelderup, Cabral and Bah within a ten-minute spell.
Farense returned to league action at Moreirense on Sunday afternoon in wet and freezing conditions that made for a difficult encounter during which manager Tozé Marreco’s troops failed to register a single shot on target. At the other end, keeper Ricardo Velho lived up to his usual high standards to frustrate the hosts on no less than four clear-cut occasions, resulting in the goalless draw and a potentially valuable away point. Farense next play Rio Ave at their São Luís Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In the second division, Portimonense achieved their third successive win of the season with a hard-fought home success over Felgueiras. New boy Camilo Durán, who coach Ricardo Pessoa brought with him from the Azores, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with his first goal for the club, but the visitors equalised soon after through Carlos Eduardo.
Following the interval, Durán doubled his and Portimonense’s tally before Eduardo again levelled the scores. However, the last word of the contest belonged to the Algarveans and Felgueiras old boy Tamble who buried the decisive header in the 78th minute.
Now well clear of relegation worries on 23 points, Portimonense travel to eighth-placed União de Leiria this coming Sunday afternoon.
