Algarve football round-up: Ins and outs

Farense are continuing to strengthen their squad with experienced Lucas Áfrico returning from a stint in Azerbaijan to bolster the central defence.

The 29-year-old is likely to be joined by fellow Brazilian ex-Casa Pia midfielder Angelo Neto whilst veteran André André is considering a free transfer south from Vitória de Guimarães.

Meanwhile, in-demand winger Mohamed Belloumi is working on putting the finishing touches to €4 million move to Marseille.

Portimonense saw their immediate second division future confirmed when the league licensing committee approved all outstanding applications including those of financially troubled Boavista and newly promoted Santa Clara, Nacional and AVS SAD for the 2024/25 season.

Perhaps as a consequence, on-loan striker Yago Cariello is unlikely to return from South Korean club Gangwon with current champions Ulsan also interested in his signature, while first team regular Igor Formiga may well agree to a temporary move to Brazilian side Guarani.
