LIGA PORTUGAL BETCLIC: FARENSE 0-1 PORTO
LIGA PORTUGAL 2 MEU SUPER: PORTIMONENSE 1-2 TORREENSE
In a mostly disappointing match last Sunday evening, Farense suffered their eighth home defeat of the current season as grieving Porto benefitted from some sympathetic refereeing decisions at the start of the second half.
Following an uneventful opening 45 minutes, under pressure manager Tozé Marreco had every reason to feel aggrieved when Francisco Moura remained unpenalized when barging past home debutant Yusupha in the Farense area before climbing on Cláudio Falcão’s to head in a Fábio Vieira free kick for what turned out to be the only goal of the encounter.
Thereafter, Porto could have doubled their lead only for Rodrigo Mora to blast over from close range whilst national keeper Diogo Costa pulled off a great save from a Falcão bullet header at the other end to deny the Lions of Faro an equaliser.
Farense, now five points adrift of safety, continue their desperate search for points at combative Arouca this coming Sunday afternoon.
Earlier last Sunday, Portimonense dominated the majority of their match with Torreense only to fall to their first home defeat since November last year.
Hector, Ruan, Yuki and Tamble all failed to take their chances before the visitors scored twice within the last 10 minutes. There was still time for 93rd-minute substitute João Neto to pull one back in injury time on his debut, but that effort proved to be too little too late.
Still eight points clear of trouble, Portimonense now face a big ask at third placed Penafiel on Friday evening (6pm kick-off, live on Sport TV+)
