Algarve football round-up: Sporting chance?

PORTUGUESE FA CUP THIRD ROUND:

FRIDAY, 8.15 PM PORTIMONENSE v SPORTING

SUNDAY, 3.30 PM SANJOANENSE v FARENSE

Portimonense are hosting a glamourous FA Cup third round tie against champions Sporting this Friday (tomorrow) night, at 8.15pm, the game also being shown live on Sport TV.

Meanwhile back in the second division, the Liga Portugal 2 Meo Super match between Portimonense and SL Benfica B, scheduled for last Monday, was postponed. The new date will be Saturday, November 23, at 11am, at the Municipal Stadium. Thus, the Algarveans’ quest of climbing out of the bottom three in the table continues Saturday week at mid-table Feirense.

Following the international break, Farense will return to action at Liga 3 side Sanjoanense, just south of Porto, on Sunday for their FA Cup third round tie. That encounter will be followed by a league match away at Braga on the 27th followed by a visit south from Benfica to be played at the Stadium of the Algarve on Saturday, November 2 – Farense are hoping to beat their attendance record of 17,793, set against Sporting at the same venue earlier this season, at that game.
