Algarve Golden Terroir hosted international Wine Tourism FAM Trip

Between March 7 and 11, the wine tourism project showcased the region as a “wine tourism destination of excellence”.

The Algarve Golden Terroir (AGT) project hosted 14 international buyers on a familiarisation (FAM) trip between March 7 and 11. The five-day visit covered the six municipalities that make up the AGT territory: Albufeira, Lagoa, Lagos, Monchique, Portimão, and São Brás de Alportel.

The initiative, organised by AGT in partnership with the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and the Algarve Wine Commission (CVA), aimed to position the region as a wine tourism destination of excellence.
The FAM trip welcomed professionals from Mexico, Brazil, the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, China, and Australia, who participated in the latest edition of FINE Valladolid, an international fair dedicated to wine tourism.

During the visit, they had the chance to explore the region’s rich diversity in wine tourism, sampling wines from all AGT producers and other winemakers throughout the Algarve. Furthermore, the FAM Trip highlighted the existing infrastructure and notable tourism products, emphasising the synergy between wine tourism and the regional offerings.

Complementing the region’s wines, the Algarve’s gastronomy played a pivotal role, emphasising local products that enrich the destination’s identity, while visits to wineries, guided tastings, and meetings with local producers showcased the tradition and innovation inherent in wine production.
