Hotel bookings in the Algarve fell a whopping 45.8% in March, with only 28.6% of hotel rooms booked.
Portuguese visitors were down 54.5%, Germans -51.7% and Brits -48.9%.
The record low was expected in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, which led 60% of hotels in the Algarve to close last month, revealed hoteliers association AHETA.
