Hotel bookings in December increased 2.5% in the Algarve, according to hotelier association AHETA.
The region’s hotels saw 34.4% of their rooms booked in the last month of the year, thanks to a substantial increase in the number of Spanish (+23.4%) and Dutch (+18.7%) guests. However, there were fewer German guests (-15.3%).
AHETA adds that the “occupation rate in December was influenced by the increase in demand” of people seeking to spend New Year’s Eve in the Algarve.
