Algarve hotel occupancy falls to 46.3% in February

The Algarve’s hotel industry recorded an average occupancy rate per room of 46.3% in February, a 3.4 percentage point decrease compared to the same month last year (49.7%).

Citing provisional data, the Algarve hotelier association (AHETA) highlighted growth in several markets, including the Dutch, up 1.5pp, Swedish (+1.2pp) and German (+0.8pp).

Conversely, fewer overnight stays by Portuguese and British tourists were registered, down by 2.1 and 1.5 percentage points, respectively.
