Algarve hotel occupancy rises 8.9% in November

Algarve is succeeding in attracting more tourists outside of summer 

The Algarve’s hotel industry recorded an 8.9% rise in room occupancy in November 2024 compared to the same month last year, reaching 43.3%, according to provisional data from the Algarve Hotels and Tourism Enterprises Association (AHETA).

This marks an improvement of 3.6 percentage points over November 2023, when occupancy stood at 39.8%. The current rate is almost on par with November 2019 (43.8%), prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

AHETA highlights improvements among British holidaymakers (+7.4%), the Algarve’s main market, as well as a significant increase in Spanish tourists (+40%). Notable increases were also registered among German guests at Algarve hotels (+11%) and Portuguese (+6.7%).

The average length of stay remained steady at four nights, with Swedish visitors recording the longest stays (9.5 nights) followed by Dutch tourists (7.4 nights).
