Algarve is region with highest prevalence of domestic violence cases

The Algarve has been singled out as the region in Portugal in which most cases of domestic violence are reported per 1,000 people.

A total of 1,450 cases were reported in the Algarve last year, up 6.3% from the year before.

This means that 3.3 cases were registered per 1,000 people, more than the national average of 2.5. The findings were included in the state’s annual internal security report.
